Lawrence, Kan. – October 20, 2018 – Allen Press, Inc. is excited to announce the purchase of an ExcelCoat ZR30, manufactured by Harris & Bruno International. The ExcelCoat ZR30 greatly expands in-house specialty coating capabilities, allowing Allen Press to produce top-quality products with even more efficiency.
“We decided on H&B because they have the absolute best coaters in our industry, with the newest technology,” said Allen Press CEO Randy Radosevich. “We want to offer superior full-service printing to our customers and the ExcelCoat ZR30 provides that premium level coating you can’t get at most print shops. Our customers will love the coating effects the ExcelCoat ZR30 can deliver and the quality difference will be very noticeable.”
Installed in August 2018, the new coater efficiently produces digital sized sheet print jobs with different coating technologies and impeccably applies aqueous soft touch coating to digitally printed projects. With recent purchases such as two digital presses, a die cutter and foil stamper, and a saddle stitcher, Allen Press has positioned itself as one of the industry’s most modern and innovate printing companies.
“We have been so impressed by the breadth of offerings that Allen Press provides,” Sean Tobler, Harris & Bruno International Regional Manager said. “They are growing quickly, adding innovative equipment and have a super tenacious team. H&B is looking forward to helping Allen Press expand their capabilities and offer more to their customers through value-added coating application.”
The ExcelCoat ZR30 has already been producing high-quality results, running a number of digital sized projects. With the new coater’s versatility, high speed and premium quality as well as the professionalism and care shown by Harris & Bruno International, Allen Press customers will benefit for years to come.
“The entire H&B team has been pros to work with. From sales to project managers to the installation. Even H&B President Nick Bruno checked in to ensure we were completely satisfied,” said Allen Press CEO Randy Radosevich. “It’s been one of the best experiences in working with a vendor on a new equipment install. And we’ve installed lots of new equipment over the last few years.”

Q: Introduce yourself, your title, and your company?
A:Randy Radosevich, CEO of Allen Press.
Q: When did you purchase an ExcelCoat and what kind do you have?
A:The ExcelCoat ZR30 was purchased in June 2018, and just recently installed in August 2018.
Q: What were your previous limitations, before you began working with H&B?
A:We were unable to coat digital size sheets, and further aqueous coat any pieces that were offline, as well as limited offline to only UV gloss coatings. Like most shops, we would have to run components of small sized projects (that require coating) on larger presses that normally handled sheet-fed jobs, thus taking longer and making it more inefficient and wasteful.
Q: What made you look to H&B equipment for solutions?
A:We looked at all the manufacturers and wanted the best and the most innovative technology and equipment. We decided on H&B because they have the absolute best coaters in our industry, with the newest technology. We want to offer premium print jobs to our customers and the ExcelCoat ZR30 provides that top-quality coating. No other equipment can produce at such a high level. So, our customers also inherit this advantage. The quality difference is very noticeable.
Q: What were the obstacles to making a buying decision?
A:Trying to find a coater that is top quality and most versatile, and that would efficiently produce digital sized sheet print jobs with different coating technologies as well as impeccably apply aqueous soft touch coating to our digitally printed projects.
Q: How has ExcelCoat expanded your capabilities?
A:It has allowed us to move all specialty coating in-house. It also enables us to produce top-quality, short run covers on our digital presses.
Q: What three specific features do you find most beneficial about the ExcelCoat?
A:1. Chamber/Anilox Metering System
2. Extended feeder and delivery for feeding large sized sheets
3. Overall speed
Q: What sets H&B apart from other manufacturers you have worked with?
A:They are the leaders in the industry and have the best technology. The entire team has been pros to work with. From sales to project managers to the installation. Even H&B President Nick Bruno checked in to ensure we were completely satisfied. It’s been one of the best experiences in working with a vendor on a new equipment install. And we’ve installed lots of new equipment over the last few years.
Is there anything you would like to add?
A:We’ve already ran a digital sized project and it turned out perfectly, and at the same top-quality as our sheet fed press (which also uses a H&B coater in-line).
CHICAGO – Harris & Bruno International announces they will be debuting ExcelCoat options of a Corona Treatment Unit and Duplexer at Graph Expo Sept. 13-16. These options will be showcased during live demonstrations of the ExcelCoat ZR30 offline/inline coater for UV & AQ in Booth #3205.
The Corona Treatment Unit eases wettability for primers/coating over substrates and ink traditionally difficult for adhesion. The ExcelCoat Duplexer flips sheets for seamless inline duplex coating or to prepare prints for the next downstream finishing process. ExcelCoat’s chamber/anilox metering system is the preferred method for applying AQ, soft touch matte, and other coatings with particulates. Its automatic wash-up and ability to save 50 jobs allows easy repeatability with quick changeovers and minimal downtime.
“Printers interested in ExcelCoat are looking for throughput, automation, and reliability,” said Scott Michels, H&B VP of Sales & Marketing. “We’re excited to be delivering two more options that expand the capabilities for applying coatings over a broad variety of substrates and digital inks.”
Also showcased will be information about Harris & Bruno chambered doctor blade systems, circulators, anilox rolls, web coaters, and more. H&B staff invites you to visit Booth #3205 for more information.
